As you know, there are only five ingredients for complete Bircher enjoyment: oatmeal, apple, lemon, milk, and nuts. In our new recipe, we have reinterpreted the popular Bircher breakfast and expanded it with a few components.
Bircher Breakfast: Shift by Shift
- Bircher Porridge
- Yogurt
- Apple slice with cinnamon
The base remains the same, or at least almost so, because instead of simple oatmeal, we use our much-loved Bircher Porridge for this delicious recipe. This can be boiled with water or milk as desired and is ready in just 3 minutes.
The second layer forms a delicious yogurt to give the dish a little lightness.
The third layer consists of apple cubes boiled in milk and cinnamon. Most people associate cinnamon with something Christmasy, but don't forget that cinnamon has an anti-inflammatory effect, contains numerous antioxidants, lowers blood sugar levels, and therefore offers many benefits that make it worth eating all year round.
Another advantage of our Bircher Shift Breakfast is that you can enjoy it both hot and cold. So if you have little time in the morning, you can prepare it in the form of overnight oats the evening before.
