Many associate Salzburg with the home of Wolfgang A. Mozart, the Salzburg Festival, or tourist crowds in the footsteps of The Sound of Music . Salzburg has so much to offer historically and culturally, including countless churches, castles, museums, exhibitions, and events. But it is above all the charming alleys, beautiful squares, gardens, and parks that invite you to linger. The mix of old and new, of cozy and elegant.
For our colleague Katrin, a native of Salzburg, there is nothing better than walking across the bridges of the Salzach, over the Mönchsberg, or Kapuzinerberg on a Saturday morning , enjoying the view of Salzburg's old town and the outstanding fortress from there and, of course, starting the weekend with a leisurely breakfast .
Because Salzburg also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine. From classic to unusual breakfast variations in an industrial to modern ambience, everything is there. Our favorite places are therefore constantly changing. That is why we would like to briefly introduce you to our current favorites:
Our current favorite places to have breakfast in Salzburg:
220 degrees
The
220 Grad
is a specialty coffee roaster in Salzburg. Coffee seminars are
held regularly for all coffee lovers
in their roasting house on Maxglaner Hauptstraße. There you will learn everything worth knowing from cultivation to the correct preparation of the coffee.
In addition to their roast house, there are two other cafes in Salzburg's old town and in
the Nun Valley,
each with a different breakfast menu.
What the restaurants have in common, however, are qualitative products from selected producers from Austria, many organic and homemade foods, such as jams and bread.
Something very special is the industrial look of the family business. Through unplastered walls and exposed pipes mixed with stylish furniture, 220 Grad, in collaboration with Viennese designer Franz Riebenauer, has skillfully staged its venues, such as the old engine workshop that now houses the roasting plant. The ambience mixed with friendly staff and delicious breakfast variations ensure a unique breakfast experience.

Afro Café
The Afro Café at the end of Getreidegasse is now iconic and should definitely be on our list of the best breakfast bars in Salzburg. The unusual and colorful interior with traditional African patterns and fabrics has a very special charm. In summer, the Afro Café also offers a small cozy outdoor area where you can enjoy the delicious breakfast with your own Fairtrade coffee and tea until 2 pm on Saturdays.
